An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a Senior Data Centre Engineer to support one of our client's data centres based in Southall, Middlesex.


We are looking for an experienced IT professional with strong know-how in Data Centre IT Operation, IT installation and planning, fibre-copper and structured cabling. 

This is a permanent full-time position working Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 16:00 and also working as part of the shared on call rota to provide the required 24/7 on-site support.

As a Senior Data Centre Engineer you will:
  • Plan, coordinate and implement HW installation and network cabling requests in collaboration with platform and network teams
  • Mange DC white space and report on power-, rack space- and port utilisation 
  • Manage the asset register for all equipment installed in the Data Hall
  • Proactively advise requirements for additional network or storage capability and liaise with the associated Support Teams
  • Install and configure hardware in the Data Hall
  • Lead troubleshooting activities onsite and collaborate with the remote Support Teams to resolve the issue
  • Provide local Smart Hands assistance to Support/Platform Teams
  • Escort and supervise maintenance services provided by third party vendors
  • Keep documentation and reporting up to date
  • Managing deliveries to LDC
  • Schedule 3rd party break-fix activities and manage DC Access Requests
What we're looking for:
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proactive individual with strong organisational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel
  • Ability to work precisely and quality oriented
  • Ability and willingness to coach and motivate team members
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting workloads in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility and willingness to cope with unexpected problems and situations
  • Capacity to manage customer expectations and interactions effectively
  • Good understanding of server HW (console, devices…)
  • Strong understanding of Networking concepts, topologies, protocols, cabling requirements
  • Strong problem solving, decision-making skills
  • A solid understanding of data centre environments, infrastructure and SOP’s
Desirable skills:
  • Professional certification in a relative field
  • Proven work history in an IT environment
  • Experience of IT operations in a data centre or similar environment
