You will join a small team providing capacity planning services to our client. As a Data Centre Capacity Planner you will be engaged across 2 Data Centres in the North East with a primary function to review all Workload Placement approvals and Change Requests for equipment installation / de-installation and governing the process of Customer installations / de-installations.

This is a full-time permanent position working Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:30, primarily on-site in Wynyard but also covering the site in Doxford.

Due to the nature of our client's work, the successful candidate must either hold or be willing to obtain SC security clearance.

As a Data Centre Capacity Planner you will:
  • Review all workload placement approvals and change requests for equipment installation / de-installation
  • Govern the process of customer installations / de-installations
  • Arrange for installations / de-installations to be carried out by technically qualified parties
  • Ensure and verify identification tags are attached for each item of customer equipment
  • Review and approve customer’s rack designs, order all necessary technical equipment (i.e. power whips, cabinets)
  • Equipment grid placement
  • Provide review for proposed solutions to validate requirements and identify potential faults
What we're looking for:
  • Proven experience supporting Data Centre equipment and / or infrastructure (power, space, cooling, equipment)
  • Ability to evaluate all manufacturers’ specifications for equipment new/old in order to assign placement in the Data Centre 
  • Knowledge of basic electrical requirements and conversions (i.e.  kilowatts, amps, phases, etc) 
  • Experience working in a Structured ITIL and or ISO environment
  • Great team work ethic
  • Ability to work multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in MS-Office Suite including Visio
  • Manual handling experience
Desirable skills / qualifications:
  • Data Centre qualifications up to a degree standard
  • Project Management qualifications
  • ITIL qualifications
